WORKSHOP AND EVENT DETAILS
OverSTUFFed: How much is enough for our
kids?
As parents, we want to give our children everything.
Who doesn't love to see their kid's face light up over a new toy? But
in an era where many of us have an abundance of stuff, how much is
enough? How do light-up Spongebob shoes and entire drawers of toy cars
support what our kids really need? How do they get in the way? And what
is the impact on the planet?
Join life coach, mother, and environmental
educator Nicole Lynskey as we explore what we and our kids really need.
We’ll look through the lens of Manfred Max-Neef’s theory of basic human
needs. In what ways does our stuff help meet such fundamental needs as
creation, security, participation and identity? In what ways doesn't
it? Learn tips to create a life that is more simple, less expensive and
friendlier to the earth.
OVERSTUFFED: How to enjoy more, spend
less, and be kinder to the planet.
| You know the stream of stuff coming into
your home, overflowing from your closets and crowding your mailbox, is
making you crazy! It's keeping you from what's truly
important. But did you know the extent to which our stuff is
also damaging the planet?
So many of us are deeply grieved by the
disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. And yet, we are
so often busy and overwhelmed just getting through our weeks. It’s hard
to imagine how it could be different.

The workshop
motivated me by renewing my energy around de-stuffing. You helped me
listen to my own thoughts and desires, and renew my focus on what's
truly important to me.

But what if you could have more of what you
truly want in life and help heal the earth at the same time?
I believe you can.
Come to an Overstuffed workshop and explore the
often-ignored connection between the mountains of stuff in our stores
and homes, and the impact we’re having on the world around us. Learn
simple, practical steps to slow the stream of stuff into your life, and
to clear the clutter of things that aren’t serving you. Create more
time, money and energy for what is truly important to you in
life.
At the same time, take a look at ten basic human
needs like creation, contribution, affection, and security. How does
your stuff support your human needs? How does it get in your way?
Explore where you’re satisfied, and where you want more. Make a plan to
have more of what you really want by freeing up more time and resources
from buying things, storing them, and caring for them. Meet like-minded
people and make connections for ongoing, mutual support for change.
Leave feeling hopeful, with a plan.
COACHING
SALONS
What are coaching salons? They are a
way for you to casually stop by and experience some coaching
first-hand. In these hour-long salons, you'll witness three
short coaching demos by three different coaches.
Got something
you're stuck around, some decision you're trying to make, or some dream
that has yet to be explored? Then volunteer to be one of the
people coached and we'll help you move forward. You never know what can
happen in 15 minutes! As one of our participants said, "It
was so fast! In twelve minutes of coaching, I made a decision about
something I'd been talking and thinking about for over a
year."
Coaching
Salons are offered by three experienced and certified
coaches: Beth
Wallace,
Grif
Sadow and myself on the third Thursday of the month at Dunn
Brother's Coffee by Loring Park in Minneapolis. For

Overstuffed for Christmas – How to make
the holiday happier for you and the planet.
Does Christmas feel like a frantic race that leaves you worn out and
unsettled? Do you think to yourself each year: This is too much! This
is not what I want this holiday to be about. These are not the things I
want to teach my children or the children around me. What if this year
was the year that you began to create the holiday that you really
wanted? Perhaps it is more focus on the people you cared about and what
is truly meaningful to you about Christmas.
Come join us for a fun and interactive workshop as we explore what you
REALLY want for Christmas this year. We’ll look at what Christmas means
to you, what really makes you happy and how Christmas is fulfilling or
not fulfilling your needs. We’ll explore strategies for dealing with
what is getting in the way of making changes. Along the way
we will also learn about the origins of our current celebration and the
impact that all our Christmas consumption and gift-giving is having on
the planet.
Christmas is celebrated as a cultural holiday by many of people who are
not religious. This workshop is open to everyone!
WORKING ON
PURPOSE™ WORKSHOP
Do you want to find your life purpose or calling? Are you in or
approaching the second half of life? Do you want to explore
alternatives to the conventional notion of retirement?
Take a day for yourself at
the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum! Join
facilitators Nicole Lynskey and Patricia McAuliffe for a fun and
interactive day as we explore some of life's most important questions:
|
 |

What
would make you want to jump out of bed in the morning?
|
- Where have I been and how will that
guide where I am going?
- What brings me alive?
- What are my gifts and where can I use
them in my life and work?
- What is my calling?
- What guides me to deeper meaning?
Based on 20 years of research and practice, the
central theme of the Working On Purpose™ workshop is: the power of
purpose! While purpose is important at any age, it can also
dramatically affect aging! When we lose our sense of purpose, we grow
old faster.
This is a Purpose Project™ workshop. The
Purpose Project™ is a collaboration of the University of Minnesota
Center for Spirituality and Healing and Richard Leider of the Inventure Group. For
